Fynbos Distillery (Pty) Ltd ("Fynbos Distillery", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it and how we protect it, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who is responsible for your information

Fynbos Distillery is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website. You can reach us here:

2. What we collect

  • Contact details: your name, email address and phone number when you use our contact form, make a booking or join our newsletter, The Still Room Letter.
  • Order details: your billing and delivery address, the products you buy and your order history when you shop with us.
  • Account details: your login details if you create an account.
  • Payment details: card and banking details are entered with our payment provider. We do not store your full card number.
  • Website data: technical information such as your browser type, device and the pages you visit, and the cookies described below.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Our website and products are intended only for adults of legal drinking age.

3. Why we use it

  • To process, deliver and support your orders, and to confirm you are of legal drinking age.
  • To respond to your enquiries and manage tasting and tour bookings.
  • To send The Still Room Letter, if you have signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To run, secure and improve this website.
  • To meet our legal, tax and liquor-licensing obligations.

We process your information with your consent, to perform our contract with you, to comply with the law, or for our legitimate business interests.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where needed, with:

  • payment providers, to process your payment;
  • couriers, to deliver your order;
  • our website, hosting and email service providers;
  • government or regulatory authorities, where the law requires it.

Some of these providers may store information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information remains protected to the standard POPIA requires.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

This website uses a small number of cookies and browser storage items:

  • Age confirmation: your browser remembers that you confirmed you are 18 or older, so you are not asked on every visit.
  • Shop cookies: these keep items in your cart and keep you logged in.
  • Third-party services: our contact page shows a Google Map, and our fonts are served by Google Fonts. Google may receive technical data such as your IP address when these load.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the shop may stop working.

6. How long we keep it and how we protect it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or for as long as the law requires, such as tax records. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it against loss and unauthorised access. If a security compromise affects you, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

  • ask whether we hold your personal information and request a copy;
  • ask us to correct or delete it;
  • object to us processing it, including for direct marketing;
  • withdraw your consent at any time;
  • complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
